Watering Schedule
This restriction applies to all ECCV customers including residential, commercial, and large irrigator accounts (HOAs, schools, parks).
Our area and water supplies have experienced significant, sustained drought throughout 2026. ECCV’sprimary water supply is well below normal levels for this time of year. To conserve supplies, grass watering of any kind is not permitted until further notice. This includes hand-watering and spot watering of grass areas.
Please shut down sprinkler systems for the season and take steps to ensure they are fully drained for the winter.
Use of drip irrigation systems and soaker hoses to water trees, shrubs, and garden areas is permitted on the following days:
ODD-Numbered Addresses: Saturdays
EVEN-Numbered Addresses: Sundays
Large Irrigators (HOAs, schools, parks): Wednesdays
Hand-watering of of trees, shrubs, and garden areas is permitted any day for up to one hour. If using a hose, a shutoff nozzle is required. Customers are also encouraged to disconnect and drain hoses after each use to prevent possible damage should temperatures drop below freezing.
Beginning October 1, 2026, ECCV will monitor for outdoor watering violations using both staff patrols
and data from customer water meters. The goal of enforcement is compliance, which saves water.
Most addresses served by ECCV have modern meters that record usage on a quarter-hour basis. Both
ECCV and the customer have access to this data through the free EyeOnWater app.
Running sprinkler systems or drip irrigation systems produces usage data that is distinct from other typical
residential water uses (showers, toilets, sinks, etc.). If usage data reflects sprinkler use or off-schedule use
of drip irrigation watering, the account will be flagged in the system.
If the account has not previously been flagged for potential watering violations in the calendar year, a
warning letter will be issued. If the account has previously been flagged in the calendar year, a notice of
violation will be issued, along with a fine in accordance with ECCV’s documented Waste of Water
violation fee schedule (per meter on the account):
1st Offense—Warning
2nd Offense—$100
3rd Offense—$250
4th Offense—$500
5th Offense—$1,000
6th Offense—Shut Off
